secret identity!    29 September, 08:43 PM

i think i’ve solved it. i don’t believe there are 2 people on this earth capable of speaking as incoherently as Sarah Palin… and thus… i’ve discovered her true identity!

i give you the real Sarah Palin! that’s right! she is miss teen south carolina!

let’s compare please:

Palin:
But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the — it’s got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans.

Upton:
I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children.

i rest my case

Richard Milhous Palin    19 September, 10:51 PM

in a rather nixonian move, sarah palin is taking an interesting stance on being investigated in alaska: she’s ignoring it.

yea.

all of the witnesses (including her husband) who were subpoenaed by the investigating commission simply refused to show up yesterday. awesome, right?

this appears to be a game of “catch me if you can.” awesome. we have a 5 year old running for vp.

more from mcbush    29 August, 11:47 AM

john mccain proved something to me this morning. he proved to me that he doesn’t love america half as much as he claims to.

i’d always given mccain the benefit of the doubt, that while he was wrong, he was acting in good faith, and loves america. like barack said last night “it’s not because john mccain doesn’t care, it’s because john mccain doesn’t get it.” he proved me wrong this morning. he doesn’t get it AND he doesn’t care.

john mccain, the oldest man to ever run for president as a non-incumbent, and arguably, the candidate with the greatest chance of dying in office (due to old age), has selected a running-mate who was the mayor of a town in alaska. a town with a population of less than 5,500 people. she then became governor of alaska. 2 years ago.

there you go. “i know how to be mayor over 5,500 people, and how to run alaska. you know, the place where all the polar bears are used to be.”

if mccain wins the general election (please god, no), we’re a 72-year-old-man’s heartbeat away from a president who knows nothing.

i’m sick. to have someone with no real political experience a heartbeat away from being the leader of the free world and the commander in chief over our armed forces… it’s just sickening. there is no other response.

Yesterday, in the forum at Saddleback Church, John McCain was asked about abortion.

“I have a 25-year pro-life record in the Congress, in the Senate; and as president of the United States, I will be a pro-life president, and this presidency will have pro-life policies,” he said.

Apparently that whole thing where the executive branch does whatever the hell it wants, regardless of the limitations set forth by the Supreme Court and the US Constitution, that’s not going away if McCain gets elected.

See, when the Supreme Court says abortion is the legal right of any pregnant woman, a President who does not favor legal abortions is supposed to act Presidential. This usually means to act with dignity in defeat. The President is not supposed to shrug and do the opposite.

Good selling points McBush. That’s what I’m calling him from now on. Because that’s what he is. Older, paler, balder, fatter, a thousand times creepier, but just as bushy.

sf muni: be different    10 August, 07:21 PM

Maybe it’s the artsy culture of san francisco influencing transit maps, but the transit authority in the city likes to do things a bit differently. And it’s infuriating sometimes.

Look at the picture below… That’s the map you’ll find inside the muni metro (light rail) stations for all trains heading “inbound,” which means towards downtown. Sometimes. I know, the fun starts already.

I’ve ridden mass transit in at least san diego, los angeles, seattle, chicago, new york, montreal, toronto, london, paris, zurich, rome, and sienna, and I’m sure there are some cities I’m forgetting. And I can tell you there are some universal transit commonalities. Muni chooses to disregard these. Today it ruined my day and I’m kind of upset about it.

From the image above, if you’d never ridden Muni before, which train would you assume will get you to Caltrain? That’s right. N. You’d also assume this is the only train that will take you to the Caltrain station, right? Of course. It’s the only one with a stop marked at the Caltrain station.

See, in transit-map-courtesy, the transit provider should mark the stops on every line that makes the stop. That’s sort of how it works. (Almost) everywhere.

So if you let 5 T-line trains pass by and waited 30 minutes for an N train, only to find out the T’s stop there too, you’d be a little upset right? Right.

I ended up missing my train at Caltrain. Awesome. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone unfamiliar with the Muni routes, or any tourists. Don’t accept what you see on the system maps.

For reference, once you’re ON the train, the map is different. Clearly showing that both the N and T trains stop at Caltrain. Why am I so angry? I don’t know.
